In this application, detection of infective agents is seen in the tissues or cells. ISH method can visualize infective agents such as virus, bacteria, fungi and reveals their information.

 

It has been used for the detection of hepatitis B virus (HBV), human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), cytomegalovirus (CMV), hepatitis delta virus (HDV), human papilloma virus (HPV), herpes simplex virus (HSV), mycoplasma, measles virus, salmonella and JC virus.

 

Cell structures or cell possessing the infective agent can be elucidated by ISH.
